What Impact Comes from a Bridge Builders Community Partnership?
Bridge builders connect communities with help that brings lasting change. Through GFA World’s partnership program, a monthly donor helps bring clean water, education and job training to whole areas. Local workers use these gifts to serve their own communities with real help and lasting hope.
A Bridge Builders community partnership connects a caring donor with a community in Africa or Asia that needs help. GFA World has worked in these areas since 1979, often where no one else serves. They know where a gift will deeply improve lives.
How Bridge Builders Make an Impact
Community-based gifts change entire communities. Some examples are:
Outdoor Toilets – Over 2.4 million deaths a year stem from lack of safe sanitation. Over 20 percent of the world’s people use open defecation. Private outdoor toilets guard families from disease and protect the dignity of men, women and children. When workers put in community toilets, an entire neighborhood is changed for good.[1]
Vocational Training – When workers learn better-paying trades, it can bring lasting change to a whole community. People may learn trades like candle making or tailoring. These new jobs help people break the cycle of poverty.
Church Building – Gifts in this group build church buildings and fix old ones. This gives people safe places to worship and gather.
Women’s Literacy – GFA’s women missionaries help women to earn a steady income and climb out of the poverty that traps them through literacy classes. With reading, writing and basic math skills, they can help their children learn, read contracts, shop safely at the market, and find better work.
Water Wells – Jesus Wells are drilled near GFA churches to provide clean water to entire communities. Without these wells, people drink dirty water that can make them sick, or walk hours to find clean water. A local GFA church looks after the Jesus wells, or a missionary, giving them a real way to serve their community.
“Now I don’t have to waste my time because the water is right in front of our house . . . I can spend time in studies, and I don’t have to wait my turn collecting water . . . [This] Jesus Well is really going to solve my problem.” —Mahina[2]
A Community Rooted in Faith
Monthly donors form a global network of bridge builders, each investing in communities they may never visit but whose lives they help change. When a supporter makes a monthly gift, they ll receive the joy of knowing their giving fuels real, lasting change — from water wells to literacy classes to church buildings. Joining is simple: click the button to begin a Bridge Builders partnership at $19 per month.
Education is one of the surest paths out of generational poverty. Through Bridge Builders community partnerships, donors support students by funding literacy classes, vocational training and school supplies in some of the world’s poorest places. Each added year of schooling raises a child’s chance of escaping poverty by about 9 percent.[3]
For $19 per month, you can be a Bridge Builder too, and invest in communities in some of the poorest countries in the world. Each gift you give will help families and communities with critical help to break through the cycle of poverty. They will see God’s love in a real and clear way.
