What Impact Is the Bridge Builders Network Having in Africa and Asia?
The GFA Bridge Builders network helps make the “impossible” possible! These monthly gifts provide marginalized people in Africa and Asia with the necessities of life—things like clean water, food, educational help, basic medical services and vocational training.
Through this network, monthly donors together support the work of thousands of local field partners serving in communities across Africa and Asia. The bridge builders program connects generous partners with practical, field-tested responses. These include clean water wells run by local churches, children’s literacy classes, basic health services, and job training for women who need steady income. Each effort involves hands-on problem solving shaped to what a specific community actually needs.[1]
That kind of local, practical care is what sets this network apart. The bridge builder program is not a distant charity model. Donors make it possible for a church in their own neighborhood to drill a well, or for a local woman to learn a trade that changes her family’s future.
Breaking the Cycle of Poverty
Many people live far away from destitution, and it’s hard to understand the day-to-day struggle that the cycle of poverty creates. If someone’s parents were severely poor and those before them lived in poverty too, that family is living in the cycle of poverty. It is difficult to break out of that cycle on their own. It often takes literacy, education and an outside force to break through and bring change.
The global data backs up what communities already know: education breaks poverty cycles. UNESCO reports that if all adults completed just secondary school, the global poverty rate could drop by more than half. Each year of schooling a child completes raises their future earning power and lowers the chance that their own children will grow up poor.[2]
Often, it is young people whose futures shift most dramatically when that outside force arrives. A child who learns to read or a teenager who gains a marketable skill can redirect the path of an entire family within a single generation.
That is the deeper purpose behind every well, every literacy class, and every sewing machine. Physical help opens a door; spiritual hope changes a life.

Even more, GFA pastors and missionaries introduce those who have never heard to the Good News of Jesus and His eternal love. And because national pastors were born and raised in the areas where they minister, they have few or no cultural barriers to overcome, so they can readily share the message of Jesus Christ with those who have never heard.

Psalm 146:5-7 (NKJV) says, “Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in the LORD his God, Who made heaven and earth, The sea, and all that is in them; Who keeps truth forever, Who executes justice for the oppressed, Who gives food to the hungry. The LORD gives freedom to the prisoners.”
