Sponsor a Girl

How Can I Sponsor a Girl in Africa?

With GFA World, it is easy to sponsor a girl in Africa or Asia. From our website, you can see the list of children awaiting sponsors, their birthdays and where they are from. By clicking on a child, you can find even more information about them, including their grade, favorite subject in school and favorite activity. Sponsorship for each child is $35 per month. These donations are tax-deductible and can be made annually or monthly by check, credit/debit card or electronic bank transfer. Once you have selected a child to sponsor and a payment method, you will be connected with that specific child. Through an online portal or mail, you can send them letters and pictures, and the child can send you letters in return. You will also start receiving updates about GFA World programs and their impact.[1]

Sponsoring children is increasingly important. It is estimated that around 10 percent of the world’s population, and two out of every three children, lives on less than $2.15 a day.[2] The ramifications of poverty and deprivation early on can last a lifetime. Despite much improvement in the last few decades, progress has slowed, and even reversed, in recent years due to the effects of the pandemic. Sub-Saharan Africa and Southern Asia are expected to see the largest increases in extreme poverty, with an additional 26 million and 32 million people, respectively, living below the poverty line.[3] Clearly, there is still a major need to help the least of these, and you have the opportunity to do so through GFA’s Child Sponsorship Program.

Each sponsorship helps children, their families and their communities break free from the vicious cycle of poverty. With community-wide solutions—including opportunities for education, medical care, protection against malnutrition, clean water and more—all those in the neighborhood feel loved, wanted and hopeful and experience God’s love in action firsthand.[4] You may wonder why GFA is so focused on communities rather than just the children. Of course, the child is always our priority, and children are best provided for through their communities. Thus, the small, monthly sponsorships provide for the education of girls and boys living in poverty, which ultimately helps their communities escape the cycle as well.[5]

In Matthew 18:5, Jesus said, “Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me” (NKJV). Consider joining GFA in this effort to welcome and provide for children living in poverty around the world. For just $35 a month, you can sponsor a girl or boy, giving them help and hope for a brighter future and showing them God’s love.
