What Are Some Testimonies of Christian Missionaries From GFA World?
The following testimonies of Christian missionaries come from inside the 10/40 window—a rectangular area of the globe that stretches from West Africa to East Asia (10 degrees north to 40 degrees north of the equator). In this part of the world, millions have never heard the Good News.[1]
Here are three testimonies from national missionaries serving with GFA World in this window:
Pastor Kanish[2] serves in Nepal where he has been working with the Sudthali people for nearly 20 years. He runs a radio program called “Spiritual Journey” that has nearly 2 million listeners.
Pastor Kanish says,
“When I write any script, the Good News is the central theme. Whatever problems they have, whatever solutions they’re looking for, hope is the theme, and the Good News is the answer.”
GFA pastor Adahy[3] saw a man huddled on a bench inside a bus stop. He called out to him and realized it was Radko, a man who had done some construction and masonry work at his church. The man was stained with dirt and looked miserable, so Pastor Adahy inquired about his situation, only to find out that the man had experienced a nervous breakdown, was addicted to alcohol and was wandering in search of his family. The man humbled himself and asked for prayer. The pastor was happy to pray for him, and he also took the man home—a long walk up the mountain. Due to this act of kindness, the man and his family came to church the next week and were warmly welcomed.
Radko said,
“I thank and praise God for His love for me, and for ordained Pastor Adahy, who came in search of me and prayed for my life to change … Since the day [Pastor Adahy] prayed for me at the public bus stand, I have changed all my ways and got rid of my ugly habits.”
Sisters of the Cross are women missionaries who have received special training by GFA World in order to serve effectively among marginalized populations. They minister to widows and children in various ways—teaching literacy and helping with other needs. They also serve in leprosy colonies and in slums, providing medical care and helping with basic needs.
Saadet, a widow, shares,
“I thank Him for the life of the Sisters of the Cross … who are still taking care of me by cleaning my house, cooking food, applying oil and combing my hair. I am extremely happy for this, and I thank God and the leadership of [the church].”[4]
