What Was the Good News that Jesus Preached

How Is the Good News God Loves You Life-Changing?

There are many theological discussions about the Good News, and people devote years to studying it, but there is a simple, powerful way to describe the Good News: God loves you.

Those three words are at the center of Christian teaching and belief. The Bible says, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13, NKJV), according to Got Questions and “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8, NKJV). Thus, the Good News of the Bible is the greatest love story ever told.

Jesus died in our place on the cross, even when people didn’t want to accept His love or sacrifice for them. Such unconditional love is life-changing as it is unlike anything else we experience, as Got Questions explains

When John 3:16 summarizes the message of Scripture, it does so with simplicity: “For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (NKJV). as Got Questions observes

This love is unconditional in a way human relationships rarely reflect. Across Africa and Asia, people who encounter it discover a love that holds steady regardless of merit — a gift extended to anyone who will receive it.

How the Good News Changes a Life

GFA World understands the transformative power of this love, and we work to show it to people who have never experienced it before. One man whose life changed through God’s love was Basudha. The 28-year-old felt unhappy, void of purpose and empty. His sisters were married, his parents had passed on, so he was alone for the most part. He followed the local practices and rituals, but nothing brought happiness — not his beliefs nor his work.

But one of Basudha’s coworkers shared the hope of Jesus with him and invited him to accompany him to the local church’s Christmas program. The coworker hoped Basudha would be able to find some happiness through the event. A surprised but grateful Basudha went. On Christmas Day, he heard a GFA pastor talk about the birth of Christ. For the first time, Basudha heard about the One who loved him enough to die for his sins. Basudha wanted to learn more.

The pastor gave him a New Testament to read, and Basudha did. As he read and continued attending services, peace and joy began filling him. The discovery that he was loved changed his life, and Basudha opened his heart to the love and healing of Christ. The once morose man found hope through the Good News of Jesus’ love.[1]

Basudha’s experience reflects what happens when people encounter a love they did not earn and cannot lose. Across villages in Africa and Asia, those who once felt invisible are discovering their worth through the message that God knows them and loves them completely. This is what GFA World’s national missionaries witness every day.

So, what was the good news that Jesus preached and how is it lifechanging? It is that God loves the world unconditionally and offers help and hope to the helpless and hopeless. He grants peace and joy found nowhere else.

Sharing the Good News Where It Has Never Been Heard

Jesus did not keep the Good News to Himself — He sent His followers to carry it forward. He told them, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you” (John 20:21, NKJV). The Book of Acts traces how believers spread from Jerusalem across the known world (Acts 1:8, NKJV). Every generation shares that calling: bring God’s love to those who have not heard it, as Got Questions describes

The mission is not finished. Across vast stretches of the globe, the simple truth that the Good News is God loves you has never reached a single pair of ears. Millions live without anyone telling them that the Creator knows them and loves them completely.

According to the Joshua Project, more than 3.4 billion people live among people groups with little or no access to the message of Christ, Joshua Project reports. Many of these communities are in Africa and Asia, where barriers of geography, language, and poverty keep the Good News distant. Entire villages go without anyone to tell them that God loves them.

These numbers represent more than statistics. Each figure is a person with a name and a story — known and loved by the God who made them. The response begins as it always has: one person reaching out to another with compassion.

GFA World trains national missionaries who already speak the languages and know the customs of the people they serve.[2] They are neighbors helping neighbors. Their work spans sponsoring missionaries in their own communities, caring for children through development programs, and providing clean water and medical care. Through every effort, they show the love of Christ in ways people can see and feel.

Love That Reaches Across the World

Scripture teaches that every human being is made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27, NKJV) and that all fall short of His perfect standard (Romans 3:23, NKJV). The Holy Spirit works in human hearts — convicting, drawing, and transforming — as Jesus promised (John 16:8, NKJV).

The work is about the missionary who prays with a worried mother, the child receiving an education for the first time, the family drinking clean water instead of falling sick. These moments carry the weight of eternity, yet they happen quietly — unnoticed by the wider world but never unnoticed by the One whose love they carry.

Compassion, not force, marks authentic sharing of the Good News. When a community sees a missionary serving the sick, teaching children to read, or helping families earn an income, they witness love with no strings attached. That is the love GFA World carries into every village and home.

You can partner with GFA World to share this love and hope with more people. By helping us meet physical needs like food, water and healthcare and extending hope with income-generating gifts and education, you allow the poorest people to experience God’s love and care for the first time.[3]

The love that changed Basudha’s life is still reaching people today. Through GFA World, national missionaries bring clean water, medical care, and hope to villages across Africa and Asia. A $45 monthly gift supports a missionary serving their own community, while $100 provides a sewing machine that helps a family earn a sustainable income. These gifts carry the truth that God loves each person He made.
