Share the Good News

Why Should We Spread the Good News?

It is a common misconception that missionaries are the only ones responsible to spread the good news; however, all believers are called to this task. Jesus said in the Great Commission, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations … teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19–20). According to Armed in Faith, this command is just one of several vital reasons to share the good news, which also include acting out of love, helping others find purpose, honoring God and fostering personal spiritual growth.[1]

GFA World founder K.P. Yohannan offered another reason for sharing the good news. Through an encounter with a poor, hungry beggar girl who asked him for change to buy bread for her brother, he came to understand how much God loves each precious child. And if we desire that God bless our lives and make us a blessing to others, our hearts must remain open to the things that concern Him: the spiritually suffering, the downtrodden of society, the poor and the needy.

There are countless child laborers, street children, orphans, and boys and girls who go hungry every night around the world. Jesus told us what the response to this staggering need should be: “Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me” (Mark 9:37). Thus, loving these children becomes our highest privilege, the opportunity to serve Christ Himself by showing His love to those who need it most.[2]

Our child sponsorship program puts this message into motion. Through our community development approach, we show children the love of God by meeting practical needs—making the good news tangible. Our field staff work with the leaders in the community to identify the most pressing needs. Monthly support from around the world helps meet those needs by providing things like food, clean water, hygiene training, healthcare, education opportunities and training for parents. These things have the power to help children and their families break the cycle of poverty and have brighter futures. Through these practical helps, they can experience God’s love and feel valued, wanted and hopeful.[3]

Consider partnering with GFA World as we share the good news with children, families and communities across Africa and Asia. It takes just $35 a month to change their lives and show them how much God loves them in a real, tangible way.[4]
