What Does It Mean to Proclaim the Good News?
To proclaim the good news to the poor was a prime objective of Jesus’ mission on earth. As the prophet Isaiah foretold, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives” (Isaiah 61:1). The prophecy continues with the promise of restoration and divine favor — to “proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor” (Isaiah 61:2). This was a declaration of the year of the Lord’s grace and the arrival of God’s redemptive work. It was the Lord’s favor — not a distant decree but an immediate invitation to the broken, the bound, and the forgotten. He applied it to Himself, saying, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing” (Luke 4:21). That is the same good news proclaimed today because there are still poor people who need to hear about Jesus Christ and His love. This is a love that opens the door to eternal life for all who believe.
The Good News of God is the message that transforms every dimension of human existence. The apostle Paul described the gospel as “the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16). National Missionaries on the Front Lines
It was Jesus’ mission on earth to declare the good news of Himself to the poor, so it should be His followers’ mission as well. Other times it is a child’s first set of school supplies, a family receiving their first mosquito net, or a widow learning to read. Each gift is a tangible expression of God in Christ reaching into human need. The news of God travels not only through words but through hands that serve and hearts that love without condition.
Programs That Open Doors to the Gospel

People ask why strangers would care about their suffering — and the answer always points back to the God who sent His Son for them.
