How Can We Go and Tell the Good News?

Multiple times in the Bible, believers are commanded to go and tell the good news to the whole world. The Gospel of Matthew instructs us to share the news with “all nations” (Matthew 28:19–20), and the corresponding passage in Mark says to tell the good news to “all creation” (Mark 16:15). In Acts, the command is to bring this good news “to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

Reaching all nations, in all of creation, to the ends of the earth sounds like a daunting task, but the Bible also gives the recipe to reaching the world with the good news in the fastest and most understandable way. Jesus said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34–35). This means that the simplest, most effective way for people to understand the good news of the gospel is through love and relationship.[1] By loving those around us, even when it is hard, we show them God’s love and good news.

GFA World puts that concept into practice by showing love to people all over Africa and Asia. Since our founding in 1979, we have loved and shared the good news with the least of these, the people who are too often overlooked: widows, orphans, those with leprosy, those living in slums, those of low social class and those living in extreme poverty.[2] The main way GFA World reaches these people is through the national missionaries and workers we support. They know the language and the culture, and they live in the community with the people they are ministering to. In addition, they can minister in areas that are closed off to Western missions,[3] which means they can reach the corners of the world that no one else can.

One example is how GFA World reaches those living with leprosy. In many cultures, those with leprosy must live in colonies, separated from loved ones. But hope is not lost. Sister Geeta, a Sister of the Cross (GFA woman missionary who has received extra training to serve among marginalized people), has dedicated her life to serving people suffering from the disease. She said, “If we didn’t help, no one would have served them or taken care of them as we do. … Whether it’s a literacy class, Sunday School, or cleaning their wounds, we do all of this because of the love of God.”[4]

Consider partnering with GFA World as we share the good news through the love of national missionaries and workers in Africa and Asia. It doesn’t take much to ensure that all nations hear about and experience the love of God.
