Can I Give to A Missionary Who Is Serving His or Her Own People Group?
You can give to a missionary at GFA World and help support national missionaries who are effectively serving God in their own country and ministering to their own people, both physically and spiritually.
Your money goes further when you support a national missionary. Missions Fest International, a global missions conference, highlighted the significant cost difference between supporting Western missionaries and national workers, stating that the over $50,000 annual expense for a Western missionary family could instead support 50 or more national missionaries.[1]
GFA national missionaries toil to bring healing and hope. They touch thousands of lives with the tangible love of God through slum, leprosy, medical and disaster relief ministries. Thanks to them, men, women and children who otherwise might have gone without help … have been blessed with much-needed aid.
National missionaries sponsored through GFA World already know the language of the region where they minister, and they are familiar with the culture. They instinctively know and respect the traditional religions and customs. Sometimes they even grew up in the community and know the people, their history and their family. National missionaries are an effective way to reach those in a community. In the eyes of the people, they don’t represent a foreign country and foreign ideas. Instead, they look and talk just like those they are serving. They are sensitive to the needs of their people.
“National missionaries want to help their fellow countrymen in need both spiritually and physically, and the Lord often uses these means of expressing His love to offer people a better eternity.”[2]
For just $45 a month, or $540 a year, you can sponsor a GFA World national missionary. You’ll receive a photo and information about your missionary. You’ll also receive periodic updates from their region so you can pray effectively for him or her. They appreciate your prayers as they serve in areas where it is hard to show the love of Jesus to their communities. From wherever you live in the world, you can make an impact in Africa and Asia by supporting the men and women who are sharing the love of Jesus to many who have never heard.
