How Can Charitable Gifts Christmas Provides Transform Lives?
Charitable gifts Christmas provides can make a hug difference for those in need: “I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11, NKJV). GFA World is a mission-driven organization which distributes life-changing gifts to impoverished communities in Africa and Asia and ensures every donation expresses God’s love.
A remarkable example of GFA World’s impact was seen in South Asia, where ten new sewing machines empowered women to stitch fabric, combat poverty and escape abuse.[1] GFA-supported missionaries provided these machines through the GFA Critter Campaign to a home for women with painful pasts. Many of these women had incurable diseases, had escaped prostitution or had survived abuse. They needed a fresh start, regardless of their background, and sewing machines could help them obtain that!
Sewing machines enable women to earn a living and support themselves. Financial independence restores security and dignity to those abandoned by their husbands or families. The Critter Campaign[2] offers opportunities to enable others to generate income. For abandoned or abused women, especially, such gifts are life-transforming, helping them to gain control over their lives and rebuild their self-esteem. With a little practical help, women can break the cycle of poverty and despair that once threatened them.
GFA-supported missionaries provide material assistance, compassion, care and the Good News of Christ’s redeeming love to those in their communities. Through charitable gifts, women are physically, economically and spiritually restored. Most importantly, the Lord always takes them in His care and will never abandon them (Hebrews 13:5). He knows them by their name, watches over them and leads them to a hope-filled future. As we read in Isaiah 41:10, God says, “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (NKJV).
